Challenge your friends: who gets to hold the AUX?
Have you ever had a friend that believed that they have the best music taste of all time? They will hype up their music style and take over the playlist at every party and during every car ride. Only to play... the most basic, overhyped pop music songs. But you are not this person! I bet that you actually have taste, know what is hyped for a reason and what is overhyped and can surely tell when a song will be a hit.
So what can you do to decide who gets the aux on the roadtrip? Clearly, there is a difference between feeling that you’re the music expert, and… actually proving it. To solve the debate between you and your friends once and for all, we have created a tool to really put your music knowledge to the test.
Introducing Stream Battle
We’ve just launched Stream Battle, a one-of-a-kind game that only exists on our platform. Already curious? Try it out here:
The concept is simple: You’re shown two tracks, and you choose which one you think has more streams on Spotify. Every correct answer increases your score, but one mistake quickly ends your run. No room for error, but you’re the music expert, right?
What makes it interesting is the selection of songs. The game includes more than 500 tracks across all different genres, ranging from well-known hits to smaller artists who have just started building their music career through playlistsforyou.com. You can play a fun game, kick your friends' asses and find some cool and new, obscure artists to boast about to your friends all at the same time!
A deeper understanding of music
As you play, you’ll quickly notice it’s about understanding patterns:
- Which genres tend to accumulate streams faster
- Which artists' songs outperform typical expectations
- When a smaller artist might actually have stronger numbers than a more familiar name.
It becomes less about guessing and more about recognizing how music behaves on streaming platforms. We hope that you are able to find some new and upcoming independent artists through this game, so take your time to sometimes also listen to the full song on Spotify! Then it becomes even easier to get to the leaderboard that we have created for you to keep track.
Our challenge for you
There’s also a competitive side to it (besides who gets the aux on your next road trip). The game includes a leaderboard (top right) where you can compare your score with others'. At the moment, the highest score is 32, held by Gary. It’s a solid start, and not as easy to beat as it might sound to you now. To make things a bit more interesting, we’re adding a small incentive: If you manage to reach a top 3 score and share proof with us by tagging @playlists.for.you_ on Instagram , you’ll receive a 50% discount on your next order on our website. This is one of those games that naturally becomes more fun when shared and challenging a friend. Whether you’re testing your own knowledge or challenging others for the aux, it tends to spark a bit of competition. If you give it a try and get a strong score, feel free to share and see how others compare. You can play Stream Battle here:
It’s quick to get into, but harder to master than it looks. We are adding another 500 songs by next month, so it will become even more fun! Best of luck to you all.
